Here's a super cool, very unique antique inspired cushion.
It was cut last year. This, in itself, is unusual - natural diamonds are not really being cut in boutique ways. The business has transformed into a few large houses dominating the scene. They don't cut stones like this.
The story is that the cutter, an old friend of mine, cut the stone for a specific order, which was canceled - that's the reason for the GIA "Color Only" report.
The stone is a VS2 in clarity... but I am grading it SI1 to be conservative.
We can submit it for a full report if you purchase it and want it.
There is no fluorescence to speak of- GIA might give it "faint".
The cut is just so nice!
My buddy left two small patches of the diamond unpolished on the pavilion(back) of the diamond. These are called "naturals" The reason? If he'd have polished those two areas, the stone would have fallen below the 2.00 carat mark.
That's how the business has always worked.
With lab diamond rough, cutters have no need to worry about losing a few points.
I kind of love the fact they're there. You can see a bit of a reflection of one of them in a few of the pictures. In person, they're a non issue. You'd have to have really good eyes to be able to see them naked eye.
I can see so many ring opportunities in terms of style for this beauty.
