.56ct H VS2 Round Brilliant Diamond Halo Ring
This is a diamond we bought from a good client- she'd owned it since 2001. The stone was graded back then, by AGSL. It was 0 cut grade at that time. Given that the original AGSL report was over 13 years old, we decided to get a new lab report.- a GIA Diamond Dossier.
GIA gave it EX for Polish and Symmetry, yet only "Very Good" for cut. The reason - the girdle is rated as "Very Thin-Thin" which precludes the stone from an EX cut grade. Thin being the cut off point at which the diamond qualifies for EX cut grade.
The area which is "Very Thin" is borderline "Thin" IMO. It poses no durability or setting risk whatsoever.
On every other way, the stone's cut is over the top amazing. It has three microscopic laser inscriptions at this point. The AGS report number, the GIA report number and H&A. Meaning the stone was cut to exhibit "Hearts and Arrows"
I can tell you that the stone is a little firecracker - so bright. Lots of fiery flashes. I love the way it is cut.
Eye clean VS2 clarity. Nice white H color.

The Ring
Perfectly custom made 18kt white gold ring. Shaped prongs. 2mm shank feels good to the touch.....
In terms of overall size, it is about 8.8mm at the outer edge of the halo.
From across the room it might look like a three carat honker!
