1.21ct Fancy Light Yellow VS1 Cushion Cut Diamond rING
We look through tons of stone to pick the ones we show you. Not literally tons, of course, but we do get to look at hundreds of stones in any given week. We reject at least 80% of the diamonds we are offered by cutters. Not all are rejected for appearance reasons, but many are.
Start with color. There is such a huge variation from one stone to the next in fancy colors. Some FLY stones simply do not have the color I love - body color can vary widely within the GIA color grade of “Fancy Light Yellow”. This diamond looks like it is very close to Fancy yellow - a lovely shade on this one.
One reason color can look off can be the cut- I reject a lot of stones based on cut. Sometimes because it does not work with the color. Even then, I am picky when it comes to cut.
This stone has a great cut for a fancy colored cushion. Almost square, with lovely rounded edges. Sparkle wall to wall.
As a VS1 you would expect no clarity issues, and in this case there are none.
But SI1 and SI2 stones frequently contain imperfections that may be undesirably placed. It shows why some sellers won’t show photos of lists of diamonds they offer...
This diamond was easy to take photos of - it just looks good naturally.

The Ring
We created a great looking roe gold hand forged solitaire for this stone.
It is elegant in its simplicity, with luxurious details.
The color of metal and diamond look amazing together.
