2.20ct Fancy Yellow Internally Flawless Cushion Cut Diamond Halo Ring
What would you do? Say you were faced with the decision of choosing between two items. One item was representative of its breed, and quite nice. Let's say it was priced 15% below market.
The other item? This one is exceptional. Held next to the average one, which looks quite nice on its own, the remarkable specimen blows it away. However , the exceptional example is priced at 15% above the market average.
This diamond is the second example.
That you are reading this, and seeing these pictures, means I've made my decision. I don't think there was ever a doubt, although it did take me the better part of a month to make the decision. During that time, the diamond, which was in our possession, it caught my attention every time it was in front of me. The cutter, with whom we work very closely, was generous enough to allow me this time to come to the decision. Knowing me as well as he does, I don't think he had much doubt that I would eventually say yes, either.
Where to begin? Let's start with the color. The cutter was making the case that this diamond is actually a bargain. Why? Because the diamond is very close in color to a Fancy Intense Yellow. It is a gorgeous canary lemon yellow. When you look at the price of a 2ct Internally Flawless Fancy Intense Yellow, it is approximately 40% more than the price of this diamond. When the rough was purchased for this particular diamond, the cutter was sure they would get fancy intense yellow from GIA. This stone really sits on the borderline between Fancy Yellow, and Fancy Intense Yellow.
Next, let's have a look at the cut. This diamond is a Cushion Modified Brilliant Diamond.
I love the way this diamond is cut. In terms of the overall shape, it is rectangular, but at a ratio of 1.11, it's a broad rectangle.
The outline is that beautiful soft pillow shape. In general, fancy cut diamonds are cut differently than colorless diamonds – although many of the goals are the same. What we like to see is a beautiful, bright diamond with lots of scintillation. This diamond hits that mark – and the lively nature encompasses the entire stone. There are no large dark static areas.
Another great aspect to this cut is the fact that you might confuse it with the 2 1/2 carat diamond easily. It looks big for it's weight.
Did I mention that it is Internally Flawless?.
Truly remarkable diamond. Although it's clearly not the least expensive one on the market, it is definitely among the best.
The Ring
The stone is particularly well suited to the tiny micro-pave wire setting style of this setting.
This hand forged ring is a classic - this is a style that is timeless.
Notice the micro-pave on the "finger rest" - that's the small cushion shape at the base of the struts holding up the halo.
The photos above are ACTUAL Photos of the diamond ring you will receive.
