GIA graded the diamond SI1. The reason is a tiny feather located deep within the diamond in an area only visible from the bottom of the diamond, using a loupe. It took me about 2 minutes searching with the loupe to find it - normally I'll spot n SI1 in a second. The diamond is totally eye clean.
The cut has some very strong points. It transmits the color in a totally even manner. In terms of light performance, it provides a bright appearance from edge to edge - with no large dark areas.
The shape is great as well - with great proportion on bevel and size of the corners.
The only less than stellar aspect is the depth. There is ZERO impact on sparkle and life - but the diamond does not look larger than it's weight.
If it had this color - and it was a "spready" stone (one with a larger spread), it would likely be another 20% in price.
Overall it's a wonderful value in a very strong Fancy Vivid Yellow "Canary" Diamond.
