1.98ct J SI1 Cushion Cut Diamond and Sapphire Ring

Here is a totally unique diamond. We bought it from another dealer who got it from an estate - a lot of stones were involved. I believe the stone is a true antique, but partially restored. I say this because the girdle of the stone is perfect - and faceted all the way around. The pavilion (bottom) looks to be restored as well. The crown of the diamond shows some abrasions at the facet meet points. This is minor, and only visible when viewing the diamond through a loupe. I cannot say for sure - this is all "diamond detective" work on my part. The wear on top and overall shape of the stone is why believe the stone is old.

A lot of buyers of antique diamonds prefer them not to be restored. I can understand that as I collect Vintage Guitars. You want them to be untouched - you want your Stratocaster still dirty from 1959 if possible. When it comes to vintage instruments, scratches and chips are 1000% preferable to repairs.

However to me, a diamond with chips looks wrong. I prefer them to be restored. Or newly cut to look old. I love this stone because the slight abrasion on the crown is no bother whatsoever. Adds a bit of charm, and costs no brilliance whatsoever. The diamond sparkles like crazy.

Regardless of it's age, this cut is spectacular for sparkle and brilliance. It's very rare to find a diamond of 1.98cts - due to the economics. This is a totally unique diamond. It looks very large for it's weight, as a cushion.

The diamond was presented to me with an EGL USA report. We sent this stone to GIA. I agreed with clarity from EGL, as did GIA.

As far as the color... I would love to agree with that H color given by EGL - the stone really looks like an H in the face up position, but it's not.

As you can see in the photo above, this diamond (identified by the ? looks about the same as the J (to my eye. GIA agreed with this grade. The thing about this stone is that the price is not crazy - and the stone is so unique. I bought it based on it being a K color which is savings we can pass on to you.

The Ring

We waited to pick the perfect pair of sapphires for this gorgeous cushion brilliant diamond.

In terms of size, and shape the proportions are impressive – and the sapphires truly complement the center. These natural sapphires, which we assume have been heated, have a rich royal blue color. We're particular about the color. Grey is a no no. Purple is nice if you love it, but I like a blue sapphire to be pure as possible. These stones score well.

Both of these Sapphire Cushions are beautifully cut. The material they're cut from is so clear and shiny that they reflect light well even in fairly low room lighting.

Once we get down to candlelight, that center diamond outshines just about anything. However, the overall look is contemporary yet classic at the same time. Exquisite hand forged platinum ring- look at those prongs!

The photos above are ACTUAL Photos of the diamond ring you will receive.
