It is widely known that "cut" is a very important aspect of a diamond's value and beauty.

This is oh so true. When we buy stones for the site, we look through literally dozens to pick each and every one.

I buy by eye - sure, I look at the GIA report, but it is completely impossible to predict how a cushion will look based on measurements or statistics. In some cases, a diamond with Good/Good is a nicer, more desirable cut, than another stone which is EX/EX. The end arbiter is my eye.
