The importance of color, in evaluating Fancy Colored Diamonds When buying rare natural colored diamonds, one must pay close importance to the actual hue of the diamond. Unlike D color, where there is little variation within the grade, Fancy Vivid Yellow is a very wide grade. For example, there's an "imaginary line" where Fancy Intense Yellow ends, and fancy vivid yellow starts. I say imaginary" because this really is a subjective judgment- made by humans, not machines. Stones that are on the vivid side of the line, but close to intense are a noticeable degree lighter than stones that are at the other end of the grade- getting close to "Fancy Deep Yellow". If a stone was graded deep- or Fancy Intense Yellow instead of Vivid, the price drops off steeply. There can be a 50% difference in market value between the strongest Vivid Yellow, and a "lucky" Vivid. This is a very strong, pungent and pure yellow. We used the leverage of it's SI2 clarity to get a very good price on the stone, considering the strength and purity of color. In that regard: This particular SI2 is very non obtrusive. There's a feather in the top left corner in the photo below. There a small "rough looking" area in just NW of the center of the diamond, again, visible in the photo below. This is actually not an imperfection, rather a small area of the actual skin of the rough diamond that remains on one of the facets near a corner of the stone. It's called "a natural"- and is not uncommon on fancy colored diamonds. None of this has any perceptible effect in real life- the stone is eye clean This is a beautiful three stone diamond ring. The lines are beautiful - gentle curves that lead into artful shaped prongs. The ring sits low on the finger and is very comfortable to wear. The center stone stands out even more, now set and is the perfect compliment to the icy white side stones. A classic piece with a vibrant shock of color. This ring will command attention from all who see it. The photos above are ACTUAL Photos of the diamond and ring you will receive.
