Here's how the diamond used to look before it was damaged in a freak accident at the bench while the ring was being made.

Below was how the back of how this yellow diamond looked. The part that was damaged is called the culet - it's the point on top when the diamond is paced face down, as in the photos below. The main point is to notice how yellow the diamond is in body color.

The first time it was cut - or more accurately put, the way it looked before we had to recut it - was not done with knowledge of fancy color cutting technology. This became apparent when we showed it to an expert in fancy colored diamond cutting.

Instead of repairing this yellow diamond he suggested an entire recut of the stone- done specifically to increase the body color.

This man is an artist with a diamond and a cutting wheel, I'll tell you that. The resultant yellow diamond is a drop dead gorgeous Radiant cut - nice size corners. Edge to edge sparkle.

The cutter able to eliminate a bit of the already miniscule amount of imperfection - so it's now a super desirable VVS2
