.93ct Fancy Pink Brown I1 Round Brilliant Diamond

This stone is remarkable in its ability to have tremendous depth of color, and remarkable scintillation and sparkle. The brilliance of the diamond is what broadcasts the color.

The stone seems to have some purple to me.

I can see why GIA graded it Fancy Pink-Brown. Still looks kind of purplish pink to me.

Why I graded the diamond I1

We bought this diamond as part of a group - they had all been submitted for GIA color origin reports. This means I need to do the clarity grading. Clarity grading is not a precise science. I always err on the side of caution when I do the grading.

I would rather someone else call it SI2 after I called it I1 than the other way around.

In the case of this diamond, I believe there is a 65% chance GIA would grade the stone I1 clarity.

A lot of dealers opt for the the GIA "half report", when submitting diamonds they believe GIA will grade I1, They can even re-submit a diamond graded I1 and get the half report subsequent.

The Color Origin (half report) cert omits clarity grading. The reason the dealer we bought these from went for color origin reports was the fact he saved about 35% on the report cost.

It is also possible GIA might GIA this diamond SI2. To find out we'd have to resubmit to GIA. The reason we've not done this is that current turnaround times are about 6 weeks.

The clarity grade will have a lot less impact on a stone like this- the value is based on the color.

The feather that constitutes the clarity grade is located deep within the diamond, closer to the pavilion. It does not break the surface Due to the location of the feather, all you see from the top of the diamond is the reflection of the feather. You can see it in the photo below near the left side edge - from about 9:00- 11:00. It is relatively translucent.

This small imperfection has a minuscule impact on the brilliance of the diamond, and no impact whatsoever on the durability of the diamond.

The diamond comes with a money back guarantee - so the real test is how the recipient sees the clarity.

The cut is another very strong point on this diamond. If we're comparing to colorless rounds, 63.5% is slightly deep to be classified as "Ideal".

Still, the Pink Brown Diamond is actually shallower than average in Round Fancy Pink Brown Diamonds.

6.2mm is as large as an ideal cut colorless diamond of .93cts.

I guesstimate the table size to be 55%.

Put it all together and it's a very sparkly diamond that exhibit a gorgeous pink(ish) hue.
