1.61ct U-V, Natural Light Yellow VS1 Pear Shape Diamond Halo Ring

We bought this stone pretty much straight off the wheel from the cutter. Since we invest so much in our diamonds, cutters give us first shot at a lot of unique and special stones. In this case, it's an absolutely gorgeous cut pear shape. Although the cutter realized that he was not going to have a diamond which graded Fancy Light Yellow, they spared no expense or time or effort or expertise in the cut. As you can see, the GIA report, which we ordered, shows very good polish and very good symmetry. You don't often see that on pear-shaped diamonds – even colorless ones.

The sparkle of the stone is amazing. There's no bowtie as such. Rather, it's a complex arrangement of sparkles and glitter that's endlessly entertaining to gaze into. The stone is a beautiful size visually to at 9.3 mm in length. The "make", and "model", are both excellent. The model means the over all shape, and the outline of the stone is a perfect teardrop. Not too long, not too fat.

About the color: the way I see it the GIA reports are essential in determining the color and clarity of diamonds for consumers and dealers alike. They chose to draw a line at the Z – the next color is Fancy Light Yellow. Still, this diamond at U-V Natural Light Yellow, is also a fancy colored diamond. When we set this diamond, there is no doubt about it - it looks yellow. Light yellow, but still yellow. Not off-white.
