1.69ct Fancy Light Yellow VS1 Cushion Cut Diamond Halo Ring

Here is a very beautiful, and interesting diamond. The first thing I should mention, the beautiful cut.

It is a Cushion Modified Brilliant - practically square. The stone is creatively cut for both maximum color, and maximum sparkle. There is a nice crown height, and a small table. This leads to a lot of brilliant scintillation. The cutter used the depth at the corners of the diamond to focus the color evenly throughout.

Although I would not say the girdle is overly thick, it is at its widest at the corners of the diamond. This is as it should be. But if the corners were left to a smooth finish, there would be large reflections in the center of the diamond. Instead, the cutter faceted the girdle around the curve of all four corners of the diamond. This creates reflections in the center of the diamond.

If you look in my photos, pretty much dead center, you will notice a few areas of symmetrical "roughness". I've crudely outlined it in the photo below.

Remember, when looking at a photo of the diamond like this one, one that plays with the light a lot, the camera freezes an instant in time. Your eye will not be able to pick up the area. I have outlined in the photo above, instead, you will not see any large areas of darkness and the diamond. Basically it creates an even sparkle throughout the diamond. From the center to the corners.

The diamond is a perfectly eye clean VS1 Clarity. It is a strong Fancy Light Yellow.

Yellow diamonds are hot - and for the first time, light yellow diamonds are hot all over the place too. You know it when you see the prices. Still, we got a great deal on this diamond, and we're passing it along.

This stone looks amazing in the ring- total sparkle- and it looks large for it's weight.
