What is the deal with fluorescence and yellow diamonds?

It is a very good - and often asked question.

The problem in giving a simple answer is that it is not a simple issue. There can be many effects - yet they are not always present.

Plus, the effects are not always negative, or positive. Sometimes GIA is tougher on the color grade of a stone with medium blue - so that the stone lay look more intense that the color suggests indoors.

In general - and this is one of the only "generalities" that does apply - yellow stones with Medium or Strong Blue may look a bit lighter in UV rich lighting - such as sunlight.

Some of our photos show this. In other photos, we can see the opposite effect I mentioned above - it looks like a Fancy Yellow.

I purchased the diamond for the site because there are no real "negative" effects on this particualr diamond. No haziness whatsoever.
