here's the story behind these earrings. It all started when a buddy of mine had a vision of a ring he wanted to make... well, he wanted us to make. It was supposed to look like the sun. There were two before bright white rays of light emanating from a fiery center.

Here is the result:

Mind you, I was skeptical from the get-go. I knew we could make the ring, I just didn't know, how it would hold up (he's a boxing promoter) or how he would like the finished product. Here's how we had to make it ...

We started with a "five diamond = a star" set. As shown in the photo above. Below you can see a single diamond.

We had our cutter trim the top off making it flat, as you see in the ring- and now the earrings.

Obviously there was one left over. We did not trim that one but ended up putting it in a necklace or something.

Anyway- as I suspected, the ring came back a few times.

First- he lost the center (ouch). Apparently he was playing football in the snow in Central Park- the ring flew off - amazing that he found the ring itself!

But the diamond? Oh well.

Anyway, eventually he practically destroyed the entire thing. I understand that when he hit guys wearing this ring it was an instant knockout.

Just kidding about that part.....

But I was not kidding about the fact that this guy is incredibly tough on jewelry. That's why I recommended he not have us make such a heavy ring with the diamonds in such a position that they would constantly be getting hit.

By the time he gave up and asked us to sell the ring for scrap ( this monstrosity I mean rain, weighed like a half a pound of platinum), most of the stones had chipped. We ended up with two unique kite diamonds- custom cut and both of these are perfect.

The earrings are totally feminine delicate and beautiful. You can wear them every day, or in an evening gown. I wish I could claim the design of these, but I'm just not that smart. My better half designed these

All the diamonds are set in extremely clean bezels- all in 18karat handmade white gold.

There are friction backs attached to the top bezels. Always dangling a flowing motion on these puppies!
