We have been very lucky in the diamond business- one of the luckiest things I was smart enough to do was to hook up with what was then, a small diamond company. This was way back in 1998. I sold a lot of their diamonds back when I first started- and since then we've bought- and sold- close to 10 million dollars of their diamonds- many of which come from Russia. Today they are among the world's largest diamond cutting companies. They cut millions of dollars worth of diamonds, every month. You can buy that close to the mine, when you buy from us.
I am particular- and the guy who runs the NY office knows what I love in most shapes.
Five years ago, the cushions that were coming out of the large cutting company cutting left me.....luke warm. The thing I did not like was the tops of the diamonds- they were too thick. In the ensuing years they've refined the cut beautifully- the top is perfect
This produces a lovely sparkle/glitter combination that looks amazing in person. I loved this diamond from the very first second I laid eyes on it. If you like the photos, I'll bet you will adore the stone when you see it.

One of a kind ring of note When considering exactly how to set any diamond of note- such as a 2.16carat cushion- you must take a lot of things into consideration. You must consider the artistic aspect. These trilliant side diamonds are a perfect fit in so many ways. The size is just right. Wouldn't want them a bit larger. The bowed lines making up the outline of the trilliant diamonds are a perfect compliment to the soft sided cushion center.
As much as artistic considerations should rule the day, business reality rears it's ugly head. Remember, if we don't make rings that people love enough to actually buy ( and keep), we can't make more rings.
In choosing such unique side diamonds, I might dissuade a potential buyer with a more traditional taste. Still, I LOVE to be passionate about things- hopefully, the same things that will drive some away from such a style will drive others to it.
Of course it's our finest custom made platinum and 18karat ring- the 18karat trimmings discreet- but they add a lot.
