It is so cool how Lab Diamonds are re-writing the traditional diamond rules.

In the natural diamond world, a GIA graded Fancy Vivid Yellow can be worth 10 times as much as a Fancy Light Yellow.

In the lab diamond world, brassy, orangy yellows are the norm. Stones like this are about 1 in 50. Hard to find.

Absolutely gorgeous rectangular radiant cut- total crushed ice sparkle... in a stone GIA would probably grade "Fancy Yellow" or "Fancy Intense Yellow"

Sadly, IGI's ability to properly categorize yellow lab diamonds is a seemingly impossible job. The real world result is that you can't depend on the IGI grade to tell you very much.

In this case, as I wrote, I agree.

That brings us to the price.

I believe fine colorless lab diamonds have pretty much bottomed out. There may be even cheaper mass produced drek... but for curated, beautifully cut lab diamonds, we are at the bottom.

I have come to accept the same about yellow lab diamonds - at least desirable, examples, like this one. The price is about 50% higher than the price of a D color. Yet still relatively affordable.

Consider the fact that a natural 5ct GIA grade Fancy Intense Yellow radiant - this well cut... goes for around $100k.
